Children of the Soil
The indomitable society’s powerful legacy of struggle
Is now branded as barbarism.
The indigenous, the children of the soil —
Their own civilization, Mehergarh, Mohenjo-daro, Harappa —
Were destroyed by the invaders called Aryans.
Those who once bowed to Father Sun, Mother Earth,
And the life-giving trees now stand helpless.
Our kings — Mahishasura, Ravana, Bali —
Were slain by those Aryan conspirators.
Using colors, mica, and clay with bamboo frames,
They fashioned imaginary gods,
Instilled fear of sin and virtue,
And through rituals like weddings and ancestral rites,
Devised ways to plunder wealth.
