
A One Day cricket match is on TV, and everyone is deeply engrossed in discussing it. In the middle of all this, the English teacher is teaching adverbs, but he just can’t get the boys to pay attention. One way or another, the topic keeps drifting back to cricket. Finally, getting angry, he says,
“From now on, anyone who mentions the game even once will be made to do sit-ups holding their ears.”
Suddenly, there’s pin-drop silence in the whole class. Pleased, the teacher says,
“Alright then, you know that if a word ends with ‘LY,’ it becomes an adverb. Now give me an example, Raju.”
“Sourav Ganguly, sir.” 😄
