Identity:
Before administering Kalmegh for any illness, it is important to have some basic knowledge about the plant. In local languages, Kalmegh is known as Chirata. Internationally, it is widely used as an excellent medicinal substitute for quinine.
Kalmegh should be collected immediately after the monsoon season ends and then dried thoroughly in the sun.
Uses:
The entire plant is used medicinally for various diseases. Kalmegh is especially effective for children and often works better for them than for adults.
For intestinal worm infestations in children, giving two teaspoons of fresh Kalmegh leaf juice on an empty stomach in the morning for several days helps reduce the infestation.
For leprosy, applying a paste made from crushed Kalmegh leaves to the affected areas provides significant relief.
When vata, pitta, and kapha are aggravated, grinding together ten tender Kalmegh leaves and five grams of the root and consuming the extracted juice helps balance all three doshas.
In addition, Kalmegh is very beneficial for children suffering from abdominal pain due to worms, enlarged liver, and for improving overall health and immunity in children.
