Koli — The Girl from the Village
She’s a village girl—her name is Koli—
and today, I’ll tell you a little about her.
She wears a white sari with a red border,
her dusky, smooth face radiates a sweet charm.
Her hair is thick and jet-black,
her eyes always gleam with joy.
Those moist, dark eyes—
when I look at them, I can’t help but be enchanted.
She longs to spread her wings and fly,
if only she could find a sky that feels like her own.
Inside her lives another world,
though outwardly she seems so calculating.
Her heart ripples with restless waves,
yet on the surface, there’s no sign of ease or abundance.
Invisible barriers hold back her expression;
her growth feels like an unsolved mystery.
I’ve seen her stand apart from the rest—
yet somehow, I’ve touched her heart.
She roams alone across fields and riverbanks,
imitating the songs of birds.
Her life is filled with the simple, sweet grace of the countryside—
and though she’s bound to this little village,
no vast blue sky could ever truly capture her.
