Tak Dhumadhum
On the pomegranate tree Lord Parbhu dances,
tak dhumādhum the drums beat loud.
Oh dear, can you recognize him?
Give me two handfuls of rice.
Annapurna gives the milk’s cream—
tomorrow I’ll go to my husband’s home!
If the neighbor’s boy slaps me,
I’ll run crying to Uncle’s house.
Dear Uncle, I fall at your feet—
please take me back to my mother’s home.
Mother will give me slender bangles,
Father will give me a sari;
Brother will give me a crooked stick—
now off to my in-laws’ house we go!
