The Melon and the Vixen
When the melon field is being plowed,
the vixen comes and sits nearby—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
When the melon leaves sprout,
the vixen claims she has a headache—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
When the melon grows tendrils,
the vixen feels very happy—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
When the melon forms its netted skin,
the vixen prowls up and down the paths—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
When the melon blossoms,
the vixen shakes out and ties her hair—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
When the melon lanterns (buds) appear,
the vixen roams day and night—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
When the melon finally bursts open,
the vixen sits and laps it up—
“O vixen, come here,
my body feels so strange!”
