When Twilight Returns
That evening, the color of twilight was dim,
And my heart — weary, exhausted.
When I awoke from sleep,
I found you gone.
At noon I had gathered my thoughts,
Sat beside you — never imagining
You would leave like this.
Love had lived in my heart,
But now it is gone.
You drove me to madness — and left.
The days refuse to pass.
Day and night, my restless soul
Sings only of you.
Where did you go, shattering
The trust of so many years?
Do you really wish to break our bond?
But bonds like ours cannot be broken.
Day and night, I chant your name.
I need no rosary —
For your garland of love
Rests within my heart
As I walk life’s path.
My thoughts drift endlessly
From one shore of memory to another.
When will twilight return again —
That soft hour when I would bring you tea?
Time passes, carrying that moment over and over.
One day, you will return,
Bathed in the colors of dusk —
And all our misunderstandings
Will fade away.
